Mission

Data is a game-changer. It’s all around us. Implementing a uniform approach as to how we manage data throughout the bank allows us to enhance the customer experience, lower IT operational costs, and swiftly and correctly report to external regulators.

As a Chapter Lead Engineer for DevOps in ING Bank Romania Data Tribe you will be responsible to build, manage and develop a team of DevOps enginners. You will act both as a People Manager (including performance management) and as a Coach on technical side.  

You will work hand in hand with ING Bank Romania Data Tribe management team, Product Owners, Architects to build, develop and maintain the Data Lake.

 Your day-to-day

• Recruiting and expanding the team with new talents
• Provide continuous coaching and mentoring by clarifying job responsibilities, setting performance expectations through the establishment of goals and job competencies, identifying skill gaps, creating development plans and evaluating performance.
• People management of highly talented DevOps engineers.
• Contribute to the strategy and lifecycle management of the ING Bank Romania Data Lake implementation.
• Assess the efficiency of end-to-end operational processes by identifying and mitigating risks.
• Collaborate closely with a team made of Chapter Leads, Product Owners, Agile Coaches, Business Analysts, Architects, DevOps engineers and Infrastructure Specialists.
• Safeguard usage of Agile - Scrum principles in day-to-day work of the team.
• Act as a senior DevOps engineer by delivering high quality results in your squad and providing technical guidance in your chapter.
• Empower others and show empathy: Showing others on your team you trust their judgment, giving people the opportunity to make decisions for themselves and showing you believe they’re making the right decisions, so they no longer feel the need to seek approval from leadership. The responsibility and ownership are transferred from the leader to those around them, who are actually doing the job
• Help the team to improve performance by learning form mistakes and find ways to bring lessons learned by other teams to your chapter. Help the team set-up their individual KPI’s and determine the way of working for the chapter. Review and approve KPI for the chapter members. Initiate changes to increase the team’s productivity.
• Coach the team and encourage continuous improvement: act as performance coach for the team to continuously improve their knowledge and performance
• Highly proficient at helping the organization structure complex engineering issues, aware of different development methodologies, Identity and Access Management, IT Risk control, Infra provisioning, Change Management, CI/CD;

The DevOps chapter is seeking a leader. The experience we need you to bring to the table:

• Intimate understanding and key DevOps responsibilities and concepts;
• Experience in continuous integration and continuous deployment pipeline processes for fast integration of testing, deployment, and delivery environments;
• Ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical staff at all organizational levels;
• Excellent problem solving/analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools;
• Hands-on experience in process automation, technology efficiency and effectiveness;
• Excellent technical documentation skills;
• Experience with agile software development methodology and practices.
• Basic knowledge of data warehouse and data lake concepts, data integration, ETL processes
• Familiar with industry standards and trends in the area of Data Management
