Job Description Client Overview: Our client is a leading global supplier in the automotive industry, specializing in the design and manufacture of advanced systems and components. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, they develop solutions for next-generation vehicles, including battery enclosures, fuel systems, and intelligent vision systems. Their products play a crucial role in the evolution of modern vehicles, ensuring that components work seamlessly together, whether in hybrid or fully electric vehicles. Department Structure: The Core Engineering department serves as a critical interface between pre-development and customer business units, focusing on application engineering. The team is responsible for driving innovation and ensuring the successful integration of new technologies into the production environment. Role Scope: The Development Engineer in Thermal Management will lead projects related to automotive thermal systems, working closely with global stakeholders to drive solutions that meet customer and market needs. The role involves breaking down customer and legal specifications, creating new standards and workflows, and ensuring that designs are optimized for manufacturing. The engineer will also be responsible for developing and implementing system requirements and related test plans, leading benchmarking activities, and collaborating with production plants to define optimal test equipment. Key Responsibilities: Lead specific projects in the field of automotive thermal management and manage related global stakeholders. Drive solutions for thermal management systems, focusing on business cases and customer/market needs. Breakdown customer and legal specifications, including A- & M-SPICE, to support quotes and clarify system requirements. Create and implement new standards and workflows in collaboration with Innovation and Customer Business Units (CBUs) within a global environment. Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFMA) principles are applied to optimize capital/tooling investment and labor productivity. Define, release, update, and distribute standards within the organization, and implement lessons learned through audits and reviews. Develop, maintain, and implement system requirements, including related test plans, using tools like Polarion. Lead benchmarking activities for thermal products, ensuring alignment with industry standards. Collaborate with production plants to define optimal test equipment based on process performance and economic considerations. Define or update the Generic D-/P-FMEA for products and processes to ensure quality and reliability. Key Qualifications: Educational Background: Technical University Degree, preferably in Thermodynamics, Energy Technologies, Thermal Engineering, or a related field. Experience: At least 2 years of experience in the automotive industry, ideally in energy storage systems, thermal management, or component development. Skills: Proficient in English, with hands-on experience in mechatronics (e.g., Matlab/Simulink/Python/Labview). Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management, Six Sigma tools, and system management tools (e.g., Polarion, JIRA) is preferred. Other Requirements: Willingness to travel internationally, with availability for regular business trips.
