Mission

Data is a game-changer. It’s all around us. Implementing a uniform approach as to how we manage data throughout the bank allows us to enhance the customer experience, lower IT operational costs, and swiftly and correctly report to external regulators.

As a DevOps Engineer in ING Bank Romania Data Tribe you will be responsible for the smooth functioning of the operational environments that support application/solution development and deployment, including server and software management.

You will work hand in hand with ING Bank Romania Data Lake development team by providing quality and fast resolutions, involve in fixing production bugs and constantly looking to improve and/or automatize our processes and procedures.

Your Day to Day

• Assists in production support, troubleshoot existing systems to identify errors or deficiencies;
• Understand and assist in tracking and monitoring the services/applications, in order to implement new alerts and by using the monitoring tool to constantly improve the resilience/reliability of systems/applications;
• Manage capacity of storage, memory, CPU, bandwidth;
• Execute performance tests, Investigate performance issues;
• Tune application & software infrastructure;
• OS patching;
• Backup & recover setup settings, schedule and manage backups, perform and document DR actions;
• Deploy application functionality in Acceptance and Production;
• Understand the need for security and apply it using the existing security framework;
• Perform simple queries on existing data models and follow the basic operating procedures of a database;
• Focus on compliance to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date;
• Document standard procedures, findings from troubleshooting sessions and operational guidelines.

Tools you use in your day to day:

• Versioning: GIT;
• Monitoring : Graphite/Grafana for server and infrastructure;
• Content management: Confluence;
• Agile planning and change management : Service Now;
• ETL : IBM Datastage 11.x;
• OS : Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.x, 8.x;
• Databases : Oracle Database 21c.

What you bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience;
• Experience with shell scripting and administering Linux systems;
• SQL knowledge;
• Organized person, focused, able to work under pressure responding to critical incidents calmly, but effectively and capable to meet certain deadlines;
• Good organizational skills and commitment.

Nice to have

• Experience with DataStage or other component from InfoSphere Information Server suite;
• Experience with CI/ CD tools is a plus;
• Understanding of Agile / DevOps methodology is considered a plus;
• General experience as a programmer is a plus.
