We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub – a distinct entity from ING Bank Romania – then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies.

The Mission

As a Looker Platform Engineer, you will help develop the data-driven products that the Analytics Engineering organization builds. Within the Analytics Engineering organization, we use agile, lean and design thinking methodologies to launch new initiatives within or outside of ING.

ING is now building expanding its Data Analytics Platform in Google Cloud with the BI tool Looker. It is to help ING to be even more data driven. This is a joined effort between ING units, and you are going to be part of a distributed multi-national and multi-cultural team. There is plenty of work and fun down this road.

Your passion is to work with the latest and greatest technologies that make working with large amounts of data easy, you are proactive in keeping yourself up to date and trying everything out. You also enjoy laying the architectural foundations for the things you are working on while aligning the business problem with the right technology. You combine both thinking of the future and a hands-on, right-now attitude. You can identify on which fronts a team can grow and will help them get there. You will work in a team with highly skilled people and enjoy a creative atmosphere where trying things out is encouraged.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

• Setting up, installation and integration of Looker into the current GCP landscape
• Operations on Looker post installation and supporting its tenants
• Data analytics platform components maintenance
• Architecture development and experiments
• Preparing cloud-ready and IaC-based solutions
• Managing monitoring and alerting for the platform
• Eliminate toil and automate repetitive tasks with code

What you’ll bring to the team

• Experience: 3-5 years experience working with GCP and Looker

• Tech stack/ knowledge:

• Mandatory:

• You have experience in setting up, installation and integration of Looker on GCP
• You have Infrastructure as Code mindset (Our techstack: Terraform with Azure DevOps pipelines),
• You have experience with public cloud GCP and building platforms on top of it
• You have experience with managed GCP services (e.g. GKE, GCS, BQ, Dataproc)
• Programming skills (Python & Go preferred)
• You have hands-on experience with monitoring, logging and alerting
• Let's rephrase it into "You have knowledge in secure authentication and encrypted workloads" (OIDC, KMS, client/server SSL/TLS and etc)
• You are willing to learn and improve yourself every day, contribution to Open Source projects are an advantage
• You can clearly express ideas, facts and opinions. Experience elaborating complex ideas as part of design pages, which makes you great to collaborate with.

• Foreign languages: English (advanced)
