The Mission

Core Banking Domain is a Center of expertise for core banking (internally referred to as Accounts Engine/ AE) implementations in ING group. Through the delivery of our services, we are enabling the ING’s strategy to provide superior value for its customer by providing part of the stable and reliable tech foundation for scalability and digitalization. Our mission is to provide operational excellence and a high service quality by continually increasing our efficiency and enabling the seamless integration with the differentiation and innovation layers of the bank’s architecture.

Our domain is supported by around 150 engineers covering core banking implementations for several ING units (Romania, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Czech Republic) and a dedicated product team. Together with Enterprise Architecture we are maintaining and executing the core banking strategy of ING.
The AE DAL (Accounts Engine Domain Access Layer) enables the consumption of the AE in a standard way and by reusing the same integration patterns across consumers (countries). The AE DAL blueprint includes several components (REST APIs, Events, MQ, files) that allow integration with the Accounts Engine, all protocols sharing the same contract / data model.

As Product Lead for AE DAL area, your responsibilities spread around the entire life cycle of the AE DAL components (including new developments), starting from vision and strategy, defining the product roadmap to planning and overseeing the product delivery (development and support activities). You have end-to-end view on purpose and ultimately the realization of the work, making sure promises are kept, maximizing the value delivered to the customers, while adhering to legal, risk and compliance requirements of the bank. Oversees pricing model for the AE DAL components and monitor the budget execution.

You will be leading a team of skilled Product Managers, part of the AE DAL area, which have the same or related purpose to develop, implement and/or maintain products and/or services to support the achievement of an optimum experience for ING’s customers. As Product Lead, you determine the way of working in your area of specialization and ensure personal development within that area, including coaching, proactive feedback, review and facilitating the development of skills maturity for your entire team.

Your Day-to-Day Activities

• Define the AE DAL product strategy and establish it based on a long-term vision, assessing customers’ needs and working closely with your stakeholders and team.

• Clearly articulate and document the product/concept definition and its value, elaborating pricing models and preparing together with the PMs the roadmap for product development & adoption. Share outcome with squads, stakeholders, identify & align dependencies, work closely with Enterprise Architects.

• Define product metrics and performance KPIs and use these product insights to make decisions and further improve the product/service.

• Ensure purpose and clarity for the teams, share vision, strategy, and value (why).

• Anticipate and adopt innovations in business-building digital and technology applications. For example, skilfully determine the components / additional features and innovations that will be most beneficial for the consumers. Make learning new trends on the market in the respective field a regular part of the team activities, creating both capabilities and enthusiasm.

• Continuously take initiative to improve the way of working and the collaboration with & within your team / area and with different other entities within the organization and globally.

• Organize and attend alignment ceremonies at area level, focusing on deadlines and goals of the product(s) release plan.

• Take the ownership to coordinate the implementation for part of the scope (AE DAL components), drive the squad in an Agile environment, attend Agile ceremonies, such as stand-up, sprint planning, review, and retrospective, focusing on deadlines and goals of the product and product release plan, lead POCLAC meetings.

• Offers feedback and aligns with the chapter leads for the appraisal of people in the team.

• Creates new and better ways for the organization to be successful. For example, motivates others to find new and better ways to address challenges; provides support and resources for promising ideas. Encourages people to incorporate varied perspectives to strengthen the innovation process.

• Customer centric - builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions. For example, uses customer feedback and data to drive continuous improvement; creates an environment in which team members feel a strong sense of ownership and accountability toward creating the best possible customer experience.

• Uses a combination of feedback and reflection to gain productive insight into personal strengths and weaknesses. For example, openly shares personal stories and lessons to convey the value of self-awareness and guide others in their development.

• Defines and executes the global communication strategy for AE DAL area (global meetings, internal events, regular NLs, other initiatives to increase the awareness).

What you bring to the team

• 5+ years of experience in a Product Manager role / Product Owner role, or Feature Engineering role, preferable in an Agile environment.

• As a plus: prior experience in building / delivering an IT Service or experience in a similar role, experience in managing product teams.

• Creative mindset.

• Product Management skills (spot the opportunity, product design, prototyping, market release, customer engagement, portfolio management, success metrics, pricing etc.).

• Willing to explore new ideas & initiatives.

• Familiar with Software Development Life Cycle and IT Processes.

• Strong stakeholder management capability, communication skills, including presentation and reporting skills.

• Eagerness to learn and improve.

• Bachelor / Master’s degree (Business and/or Banking, Technical studies).

• Foreign languages: English (advanced)
