The Mission

Active Pivot is an important part of Competitive Pricing area allowing risk managers to analyze trade data coming from various deal capture systems within the bank (e.g. Summit, Murex). We deliver VaR (Value at Risk), PnL (Profit and Loss) and Risk metrics that enable our stakeholders to do daily market & credit risk analysis for decision making on portfolio risks and limit monitoring.

In addition, we play a key role for internal and regulatory reporting by providing a sign off process to guarantee correctness of figures and by allowing slice and dice on aggregated data coming from all input systems, regardless of data format.

As we have broadened our scope recently, new applications were onboarded to support additional business requirements like facilitating the explanation of VaR figures or applying the regulatory aggregation and calculation rules to provide Market Risk Managers with the capital requirements.

Our team's portfolio is diverse, containing a significant number of projects: several main applications developed on top of Active Pivot framework and many other in-house applications to support all the business flows.

In addition, our long-term ambition is to build these analytical capabilities into the Google Cloud Platform, and use technologies like BigQuery, PubSub, DataFlow, and Kafka, which all make the journey even more interesting.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

Develop in-memory OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) hypercubes built on top of ActivePivot technology, allowing users to slice and dice, aggregate and join the data from various sources

• Implement data processing tools and services based on Spring, SpringBoot, JPA
• Reduce the complexity of the system by improving and aligning the applications.
• Design and develop automated unit, integration and regression/functional tests
• Incorporate the Non-Functional Requirements into the application design itself, in order to meet the high demand on performance, availability, reliability, etc.
• Work with large data sets and real-time analytics and have a strong focus on performance
• Transform business requirements into functional design, estimate and plan development with your team and the Product Owner
• Collaborate with the other Chapter Leads and Architects in order to define/refine/improve the technical architecture of the application
• Collaborate with Operations Engineers to promote developments to Production

What you’ll bring to the team

Experience: 5+ years of Java software engineering experience

Tech stack/ knowledge:

• Mandatory:
  • Advanced knowledge of and proven proficiency in Java
  • Experience in Software Architectures and definition of technical designs to implement the respective architectures
  • Experience in designing and maintaining microservices
  • Experience with dependency injection frameworks
  • Experience in SQL and relational modelling
  • Experience in developing automated testing
  • Experience in Continuous Delivery
  • Experience or affinity with IT security concepts
  • Work experience in an Agile organization and proven Agile mind-set
  • Excellent team player in an international team, service oriented, customer centric, eager to learn and to coach others
  • You are curious and understand the latest developments in the technical and financial services
  • You are able to discuss with your stakeholders and product owner about features and stories and can translate these into software with real business value
  • Proactive and attentive to other’s needs
• Nice to have:
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Experience with Active Pivot
  • Experience with Kubernetes or Openshift
  • Experience with UI technologies (React.JS, Angular or other)

Foreign languages: English (advanced)

Education: Education at Bachelor/Master level with a strong analytical background, in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering or equivalent
