The Mission

Wero Core Services supporting the wero digital payment wallet proposition of ING is a product managed internally by a Service Owner/ Product Lead, leading the vision, strategy, and priorities, therefore you will act as a Solution Architect, by being responsible for creating the solution designs and innovating the Wero features for Payment and Settlement Services (“PSS”) area.

These services will be used in native (android and iOS) applications and assisted channels of ING, facilitating digital payments via the wero wallet for millions of ING customers.

You will work with multi-disciplinary squads, architects, IT Analysts, product owners and developers.

Your day to day

Strengthen the design and implementation quality of IT Systems, by optimizing technology infrastructure, operational efficiency, scalability, reliability, and security and ensuring seamless alignment between design, implementation, business, and architecture.

As an IT Solution Architect, you will have the opportunity to:

• Perform architecture activities for incremental changes (maintaining and extending existing solutions) and innovative changes (conceiving new solutions for emerging opportunities) for our platform and domain.
• Adjust the design of the feature based on existing design patterns based on failures in run time.
• Enable flawless implementation of the stories/ features to business partners.
• Facilitate teams to design complex technical solutions.
• Create the sequence in which order to deliver the Features.
• Support squads during Feature delivery.
• Guide squads to manage dependencies and help them to solve impediments.
• Combine the business and IT knowledge to slice Epics into Features.
• Highlight the IT and business dependencies within our Tribe.
• Reduce the size and complexity of Features by creating functional roadmaps.

Even if you start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when it comes to tasks.

You will be responsible for the solution design to show what is needed and how the End-to-End solution will work.

This will involve:

• creating an overview of the proposed solution, outlining the architecture, components, modules, and interfaces of the system.
• breaking down solution into Features and identify the cross-tribe and cross-squad dependencies.
• being responsible for the refinement in a detailed design with sufficient granularity for the development team to implement. (By example, you will conduct, review and maintain topics as software architecture, workflows, design records, proof of concepts, technical documentation).
• during the development phase, offering technical guidance and supporting the development team.
• playing a crucial role in evaluating and selecting technologies and tools, by assessing various options and making recommendations based on factors such as scalability, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
• managing the baseline architecture.
• supporting the Product Owners/ Service Owners/ Product Leads with defining the delivery roadmaps.
• being the connecting pin between colleagues having different expertise in self-steering teams (squads). Your colleagues will be IT Integrators, IT Solution Architects, Engineers, Architects, Product Owners/ Squad Masters, Developers, Customer Journey Experts/ Product Managers, etc.

What you’ll bring to the team

Experience:

• At least 3-5 years technical design knowledge with proven experience in transferring reference architectures to solution architectures.
• Experience in refining and designing features.
• Excellent knowledge of current technologies.
• Proven track record in reducing complexity of delivering complex IT initiatives across multiple teams.
• Mastery in writing skills – understandable and easy to read features.
• Good presenter who can convey stories well between business and IT stakeholders.

Tech stack/ knowledge:

• Technical studies in Computer Science/Economic Cybernetics etc.
• Understanding of security concepts
• Experience with REST APIs
• Agile Scrum experience
• Understanding of (instant) payments domain
• Technical understanding of different levels of abstraction and systems you work with
• Experience with microservices, Kubernetes or Containers (e.g. Docker, Podman) and Cloud related technologies.
