Technical Manager

Its expertise and closely managed supply chain have been behind some of Damen’s most important deliveries to date, fully illustrating the group’s diverse product portfolio.

The role

Managing/coordinating the activity in Technical Department in order to reach the efficiency and quality parameters required by the clients.

Key Accountabilities

• Manages the technical development, and other activities which is under the responsibility of the department; performs his activity reporting directly to Managing Director and within legal provisions;
• Develop and establish the department's strategy, including defining objectives, targets, and methodologies. This strategy should consider technological advancements and systems required for upcoming projects or potential new clients.
• Implements the technical and economic efficiency ratios agreed with Damen Group, necessary to obtain / keep a competitive advantage;
• Design and implement an efficient organizational structure within the Technical Department to ensure smooth operational and functional workflows.
• Responsible for identifying the staffing requirements necessary to ensure the smooth execution of various ongoing projects
• Assess the training needs of staff to bridge gaps between current skills and job requirements. Develop and oversee plans for enhancing the qualifications of team members.
• Regularly assess the performance of subordinates, establish evaluation criteria and performance metrics, and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team effectiveness.
• Permanently evaluates and determines the necessary infrastructure (office equipment, internal and external communication network) in order to provide a continuous and smooth activity, without bottlenecks and congestions;
• Develops and implements strategic programs/plans for improvement and development of the assets and facilities based on strategy and goals received in policy plan and or from managing director
  
  

Skills & Experience

• Technical University degree (preferably Naval Architecture)
• Fluent English language
• Practical and general knowledge of European shipbuilding standards
• Knowledge of classification rules
• Knowledge of quality management
• Comprehensive understanding of shipbuilding and marine engineering principles.
• Knowledge of modern shipyard technologies, production methods, and equipment.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing technological policies aligned with organizational goals.
• Experience in setting productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency objectives.
• Experience in performance evaluation, employee development, and managing diverse teams.
• Proficiency in using software tools for design (e.g., CAD/CAM, 3D-x).
• Knowledge of digital transformation trends in shipbuilding, such as Industry 4.0 and lot.
